What is  

Social, and Emotional Learning program?


The program seeks to establish the Social and Emotional Learning skills in students through which students acquire the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, demonstrate empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. This definition is contained in CASEL.

Growing Leaders Social and Emotional Learning Program. We aim to build skills that will have a positive impact on students’ lives throughout their school years and beyond. Our priority is to enhance the SEL in all students to support them to promote their academic achievement and positive social behavior, while reducing conduct problems

Program Description


Growing Leaders Program is from Grades K to 6. Each grade level is composed of  3 units with different activities for each lesson. Like,  Journal writing, revisions , and self-assessments by using Marzano Learning Goals and scales.  

The activities are implemented during the program are: Read Aloud, scenarios, debates, Arts and Crafts, exercises and videos, P.E and Yoga.  Students will learn how to manage their emotions, strengths and challenges, build a healthy relationship with family and peers, setting their goals and be responsible decision makers.  

 

What is the impact of teaching SEL in schools?

 

By the end of the program, Students will learn how to manage their emotions, strengths and challenges, build a healthy relationship with family and peers, setting their goals and be responsible decision makers.

 

How Do We Wok ?

Parents

Provide parents three seminars and resources to help them foster the skills at home.

School Wide Workshops

Provide four workshops for all teachers and staff to integrate the SEL competences in the daily school life.

Activities supported by the program

  • The activities adopted by the program during the application of social emotional education and various resources that simulate different age groups to present scenarios to students to clarify them as a form of practice and reinforcement that allows students to express themselves and express their emotions through illustrations, words and problem solving, setting goals through exercises and short stories, Artistic activities, intellectual activities, collective activities, recitation activities,

    1- Scenario discussion - (How to act - and what if -)

    2- Writing: writing positions and opinions related to the topic of the unit

    3- Watching and hearing stories related to the topic of the title and discussing the goals of the story

    4- Various physical sports activities

    5- Implement different art work according to the topic of the unit

    6- Contests and games.

Program units

The Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) based on teaching five competencies. It consists of three units

Unit 1


Self-awareness

The ability to identify and assess your thoughts, feelings, and values, as well as how they intersect with your behaviors.

Self-management

The ability to not only identify but regulate emotions thoughts, and actions.

 


Unit 2


Social Awareness

The ability to take the perspective of and empathize with others, as well as learning social and ethical behavior.

Relationship Skills

The ability to get along and make meaningful connections with people in their life.

 


Unit 3


Responsible decision-making

The ability to make positive, constructive choices about your behavior.
